USA Box Office: 'Shirdi Sai' Touches 1 Cr

At a time when action movies and masala flicks are hot favourites for current audiences, it really requires a lot of guts for filmmakers to experiment with making mythological and spiritual films.

But the latest Telugu film — Shirdi Sai , based on the life history of Sai Baba of Shirdi in Maharashtra, has become a hit, not only in the state, but also in the overseas market.

The theatres are packed with audiences of all ages much to the surprise of film critics who are wondering how even spiritual movies are able to attract people in this fast age.

SHIRDI SAI: In its opening weekend, the film has collected $ 1,70,958 [Rs. 94.79 lacs] on 45 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 3,799. Note: 8 screens yet to report.

SUDIGAADU: In its third weekend, the film has collected $ 15,276 on 16 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 955. Total: $ 2,16,954 [Rs. 1.20 crores].

JULAYI: In its fifth weekend, the film has collected $ 4,038 on 4 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 1,010. Total: $ 8,30,624 [Rs. 4.61 crores].

SRIMANNARAYANA: In its second weekend, the film has collected $ 364 on 1 screen. Total: $ 18,835 [Rs. 10.44 lacs].
