Naidu Under Pressure For Special Status

Telugu Desam Party president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who has been evading criticism over his failure to bring special status to his State, is now back under tremendous pressure.

The demand for special status has once again picked up momentum after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi visited the State and raked up the issue.

On Sunday, there was an all-party meeting in Vjayawada to discuss strategies to put pressure on the State and the Central governments on the special status to AP. The meeting decided to call for Andhra Pradesh Bandh on August 11.

Speaking on the occasion, Andhra Intellectuals Forum president Chalasani Srinivas said, “By August 10, the Centre should declare ‘Special Status’ to Andhra Pradesh state. If not, we will intensify our agitations. All MPs, Union Ministers from the state should fight with Centre.”

The leaders discussed several issues like package to Uttarandhra, backward Rayalaseema and development of new capital in this meet.
