Jagan decision, a slap on Naidu face!

YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's decision not to admit Nandyal Telugu Desam Party leader Silpa Chakrapani Reddy into YSRC unless the latter resigns from his MLC seat, is a slap on the face of TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Chakrapani Reddy was forced to tender his resignation from the MLC seat before he was admitted into the YSRCP. And Jagan made an open announcement to this effect on the dais of the public meeting at Nandyal on Thursday evening.

“This the value based politics and ethics in political system. I will not allow people from other parties to join the YSRC without relinquishing their posts,” he declared.

By taking such a decision, Jagan did not give any opportunity to the TDP leaders to accuse him of indulging in opportunistic politics.

As many as 21 YSR Congress party MLAs defected to the TDP without resigning from their posts, and four of them even got inducted into the Naidu cabinet, giving a go-bye to the value based politics.

Had Jagan admitted Chakrapani without the latter resigning from the MLC seat, he would have faced the same criticism what Naidu is facing. By forcing Chakrapani to quit the post, Jagan set a healthy precedent.

For Chakrapani, it is a sort of embarrassment, as he wanted to continue in the MLC seat. But with Jagan firm on his decision, he had no other option. And by insisting on his resignation, Jagan also made it clear that people cannot take him for granted!
