Phone-Tapping: Ex-DCP Names 'Rao Sahab' for Snooping

Police officers under scrutiny for their involvement in the mass phone-tapping scandal have allegedly implicated a BRS leader identified only as 'Rao' in the operation.

'Rao,' described as a close associate of the 'TRS supremo' previously named by former DCP Radha Kishan Rao during interrogation, is reportedly set to receive a notice requiring his presence for questioning.

According to sources, 'Rao garu' and 'Rao Sahab' - as he was referred to - played a significant role in issuing directives to some of the accused officers.

Sources revealed that raids and settlements were conducted at the behest of 'Rao,' who personally selected officers for the phone-tapping initiative.

In parallel, special teams investigating the phone tapping cases purportedly detained four associates of suspended DSP D. Praneeth Rao from the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) who were stationed in the war rooms of Rajanna Sircilla and Warangal districts.

Former DCP Radha Kishan, who reportedly lost consciousness during questioning at the Banjara Hills police station, was interrogated again on Saturday.

He, along with others, purportedly disclosed details about the involvement of political leaders from the city and districts who allegedly funded the acquisition of Israeli devices for the operation.

Sources indicated that politicians persistently contacted investigation officers for updates. Police are set to investigate allegations of land grabbing by certain leaders in Pragatinagar and Sardar Patelnagar.

Additionally, Radha Kishan disclosed the name of an MLC who, sources claim, obstructed police action against encroachers.
