MLC elections, a wake-up call for Jana Reddy!

The way Telangana Rashtra Samithi won the election to the MLC seat from Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahabubnagar graduates’ constituency is a sort of wake-up call for veteran Congress leader and former minister K Jana Reddy, more than anybody else.

Jana Reddy has been chosen as the Congress candidate for the by-elections to Nagarjunasagar assembly seat, to be held on April 17.

“There is no scope for any complacency, as the TRS can stoop down to any level to win the seat,” former minister and Congress leader G Chinna Reddy, who lost the MLC elections to the TRS, said.

He pointed out that the TRS would pump in huge money to win the seat by hook or crook.

“Jana Reddy has tremendous influence in Nagarjunasagar constituency, but he has no money power like the TRS. So, he has to take out money and spend to match the TRS,” he said.

Chinna Reddy suggested that Jana Reddy should give up the traditional way of fighting the elections and adopt new strategies to counter the TRS.

“Without spending money, it is difficult to defeat the TRS,” he said.

The former minister declared that he would not contest any elections in the coming years, as he did not have the capacity to spend money on the lines of the TRS.

“I have lost the MLC elections only because I could not spend money. The TRS enrolled bogus voters in big numbers and the party MLAs splurged money in the elections to defeat the rivals,” he alleged.

Chinna Reddy also found fault with the unemployed graduates who succumbed to money power and voted for the TRS.

“KCR has turned Telangana into a haven for drunkards,” he said.
