Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) working president and Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao seems to resemble Jana Sena Party president and Power Star Pawan Kalyan, at least in terms of their national political mission.
One may have noticed the confusing statements made by the Jana Sena chief regarding his political mission. On one hand, he appeals to the people to give him a chance to rule the state.
On the other hand, he sounds quite pessimistic, stating that the people should strongly desire him to become the Chief Minister.
Similarly, Pawan Kalyan calls for the unity of like-minded opposition parties in the state and advocates for an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party to prevent a split in the anti-establishment vote.
However, in the same breath, he claims that he does not want to play a subordinate role to any party and will not compromise on the self-respect of his party and its members.
He even mentions that he is not in a hurry but plans to have a long innings in politics.
KTR, too, has been making similar statements. In his latest interview with a news agency, he expressed that his party is not interested in toppling one government and installing another, although it was not long ago that he and his party leaders were calling on the people to defeat the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre.
While defending his father K Chandrasekhar Rao's earlier attempt to forge unity among opposition parties, the BRS working president also stated that a meeting of opposition parties would not serve any purpose and their mission to replace the BJP would not be successful as Modi remains a strong force.
Likewise, he mentioned that the BRS would contest the upcoming elections independently to seize power. However, he also stated that his party is not in a hurry.
"The elections will neither begin nor end in 2024. We have taken the first step and we will gradually progress towards achieving our goal," he said.
