Movie Trouble: Politician Crying, 'It's Not Me'

Movie Trouble: Politician Crying, 'It's Not Me'

Nabil Gabol is a Pakistani politician from Lyari in the Karachi region. The character of Jameel Jamali, played by Rakesh Bedi in Dhurandhar, is loosely inspired by him.

In fact, he was interviewed by Pakistani media during the release of Dhurandhar Part 1, where he acknowledged that the character was inspired by his persona.

However, after the release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, and learning that his character is depicted towards the end as an Indian spy, he is now distancing himself from the portrayal.

He has reportedly been saying that what is shown in the film has nothing to do with his real life.

"It's not me. Don't believe whatever is depicted in the film. It's a crooked attempt by Indian filmmakers to deliberately distort and malign my character. But that's not me," he is apparently saying now.

He is said to be worried that illiterate or misinformed viewers in Pakistan, who might watch the film through VPNs or illegal downloads, could mistake the fictional portrayal for reality and see him as an Indian spy, potentially putting him at risk.

Some Pakistani social media handles are even claiming that he is hiding and “shivering with fear” because of the controversy.
