Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is embarking on yet another mega yagnam – Maha Sudarshana Yagam shortly, this time not in his farm house at Erravelli in Siddipet district, but near Yadadri temple in Bhongir district.
Unlike in the past when conducting such yagnams was purely a personal affair, this time it is going to be performed officially on behalf of the Telangana government.
KCR held discussions with Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy at his ashram at Muchintal near Shamshabad on Tuesday. The date is going to be finalised shortly.
According to official sources, the Maha Sudharshana Yagam will be performed in a 100-acre yagna vatika, where 1048 Yagna Kundams would be constructed.
More than 1,000 Rithviks (Vedic pundits who perform the Yagam) and another three thousand assistants would conduct the yagam.
Peetaadhipathis of Vaishnava Peethams from all over India and abroad, including Badrinath, Srirangam, Jagannath, Tirupati and other holy places would be invited to the yagam.
Similarly, KCR is planning to invite the Central government heads, chief ministers, governors and ministers, besides spiritual heads of all Hindu sects concerned to the Sudershana Yagam.
Now, the question is why KCR is contemplating this yagnam all of a sudden?
He held Raja Syamala Yagam before the assembly elections and Maha Rudra Sahita Chandi Yagam after the victory in the elections. He recently performed another Yagnam on the inauguration of Kaleshwaram project.
So, what is the purpose of this latest Yagam at the public expense?
Critics say the mega ritual is yet another attempt to divert the attention of the people from crucial issues confronting them such as filling up of jobs, non-payment of Rythu Bandhu dues etc.
Secondly, by holding such mega Hindu rituals, KCR wants to neutralise the impact of Bharatiya Janata Party in the state and prove that he is a bigger Hindutva protagonist than the Sangh Parivar.
That way, he wants to prevent the pro-Hindu forces from inclining towards the BJP in the elections, sources said.
