The voting for the Jubilee Hills constituency is finally over following a high-voltage campaign by all the political parties.
But there is clearly no doubt regarding the fact that the battle is principally between Maganti Sunitha of the BRS and Naveen Yadav of the Congress.
One feature of the Congress campaign was Chief Minister Revanth Reddy personally leading the campaign for Naveen Yadav.
Why did the Chief Minister need to take time out on so many days and campaign like he himself was contesting the election?
The answer is simple. Jubilee Hills is a prestigious contest for Revanth Reddy because the result will be seen as a kind of referendum on his governance.
The BRS has been claiming that huge anti-incumbency has already set in against the Congress government.
Against this backdrop, if the Congress loses Jubilee Hills, it will be seen as a vindication of that claim. However, if Congress wins here, Revanth Reddy can claim it reflects the mood of the voters across the entire Telangana.
This is the reason why the Jubilee Hills election is such a prestigious issue for Revanth Reddy. The result will be announced on Friday, November 14 and counting of votes will begin at 8 am.
