IAS officer offers bribe to convert black money into white?

An IAS officer working in a key department in the Telangana government has come under scrutiny by the higher officials for allegedly offering to convert Rs 50 crore of black money into white in exchange for a commission.

According to sources, the officer offered to pay Rs 1 crore to anyone who could help legalize the amount.

The officer, who has been in his current post for just four months, is said to have amassed the money through questionable approvals and alleged extortion under the guise of granting permissions.

Recently, a businessman reportedly secured clearances from the officer by paying a Rs 3 crore “package.”

The fresh controversy arose after the officer approached the same businessmen to help convert his black money.

This has triggered discussions among senior officials, with the government reportedly initiating an internal inquiry.

Authorities are now reviewing all permissions granted in the last four months to determine how many were linked directly to the officer’s personal accounts and how many were processed through other channels.

Sources indicate the government is unhappy with the officer, and speculation is rife that disciplinary action or suspension may be imminent. A senior political leader is also said to have discussed strict action against the officer’s aides.

Meanwhile, a detailed report documenting the alleged black money offer and related financial irregularities is being prepared for submission to higher authorities.
