After experimenting with three major political parties in the Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, senior actress and former MLA Jayasudha is all set to join the fourth political party to test her luck again in politics.
If everything goes well, Jayasudha is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party by the end of August. Senior BJP leaders consulted the senior actress and held discussions with her on Tuesday.
They requested her to join the BJP on August 21, when several leaders from other parties including recently resigned Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy would be joining.
They reportedly offered to field her from Secunderabad assembly constituency in the next assembly elections.
She represented the constituency between 2009 and 2014 on Congress party ticket. Since it falls under Secunderabad parliamentary constituency represented by Kishan Reddy, she has fair chances of winning the seat, they told her.
Though Jayasudha was convinced by the BJP leaders’ offer, she is learnt to have asked for some safeguards. She wanted some crucial post for her in the party, so that she would get some prominence and recognition.
She reportedly told them that she might not be able to join by August 21, but would need at least another week to take the final decision.
The BJP leaders have told her that they would take up her requests with the national leadership and get back to her.
In all probability, she might join the BJP later in the month, sources added.
