An unexpected name that surfaced the news in the matter of the allotment of Rajya Sabha seats is that of Vijayendra Prasad, the Telugu film writer.
Had he not been the father of Rajamouli, he wouldnt have seen any place in the film industry. His work got the recognition only for working with Rajamouli.
He developed contacts in the Bollywood and could sell his stories to the big production houses. All this happened very recently but he was hardly known to the Telugu people earlier.
Vijayendra Prasad has no popular track record for decades together.
Is he really worthy of getting a Rajya Sabha seat is the biggest question.
Recognizing Ilayaraja with a Rajya Sabha seat is reasonable but Vijayendra Prasad getting it is really strange.
He is a businessman than an artiste. He markets his stories only at the big production houses. He hardly made any contribution to the society with his stories.
Besides he faced the flak for writing the story of RRR as an absurd, distorting the history and historical personalities.
BJP scored nothing by honoring Vijayendra Prasad other than a few trolls. Had it honored the likes of Chiranjeevi ( though he was a former Minister) with such position, that would have brought some political stir.
No one knows who recommended him and what sort of lobbying took place in the back end to make this happen.
