YSRC to keep mum on Jagan's letter to CJ

The explosive letter written by YSRCP president and Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to chief justice of India S A Bobde last Saturday created tremors in the political circles and the media.

There was stunning silence in the political circles the following day over the allegations levelled by Jagan against Supreme Court judge N V Ramana and a few high court judges, though there were articles both in support and against the banner of revolt raised by the YSRC chief against judiciary.

TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, too, reacted cautiously on the issue, though his party leaders criticised Jagan for targeting judiciary. There was no response either from the Supreme Court or the BJP leaders.

However, a couple of Supreme Court advocates moved petitions in the Supreme Court against the chief minister for going to the media targeting the SC judge and a few high court judges.

The YSR Congress party leaders did not make any comments on the issue subsequently, except a sarcastic tweet from party general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy attacking the pro-TDP media for ignoring such a major development.

Apparently, Jagan has instructed his party leaders not to utter a single word on the issue. Party secretary and advisor to the AP government on public affairs Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy sent messages to all party seniors and spokespersons not to react on the comments made by opposition parties or subsequent developments on the issue.

“The chief minister has written a letter to the chief justice of India. Now, it is for the Supreme Court to take a call. Till such time, the party president wants all the party leaders not to make any statements on the issue or react to the comments made by the opposition parties,” Sajjala told the party leaders.
