Will Modi Break The Brahmin Jinx?

Will Modi Break The Brahmin Jinx?

It is proved that the most searched keyword by Indians (especially Telugus) while browsing about the new CEO of Microsoft is 'caste'.

People are eager to know a person with their caste and analyse him with some pseudo pre conceived notions. Now the turn seems to be of Narendra Modi.

The stage is getting ready for the 2014 elections and even before that happens, the informal declaration from many is that Narendra Modi will be the PM.

If it does happen then will Modi ensure smooth rule for the next five years? These questions are rising looking at the past history of our Prime Ministers.

Well, post independence, the major part of Prime Minister seat was dominated by Brahmins and they successfully completed their terms.

Right from Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi (half Brahmin), Atal Bihari Vajpayee, PV Narasimha Rao the Brahmin Prime Ministers have had longest period in the seat.

But if you look at the likes of Non-Brahmin PMs Lal Bahadur Sastry (a Kayasth), I K Gujral, Deve Gowda, Chandrasekhar, V P Singh and others, they have not been able to sit still for their complete term.

So now, with Modi also hailing from a Non-Brahmin community, will he be in a position to break that Brahmin jinx and can sit in the chair for complete term?

Let us wait and see what happens.
