The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged liquor scam that took place during the previous YSR Congress party government has been going soft towards former Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy, ever since he quit the YSRCP and turned a virtual whistle blower in the case.
He was the one who spilled the beans on the role of Raj Kesireddy, former IT advisor to the Jagan Mohan Reddy government, who has been named accused no. 1 (A-1) in the liquor scam.
Sai Reddy described Raj Kesireddy as the “kartha-karma-kriya” of the liquor scam, though he did not disclose the name of Jagan in the case.
As Sai Reddy’s attempts to gain entry into the Bharatiya Janata Party failed and his political future remained uncertain, there were reports that he is trying to return to the YSRCP fold. There were also rumours that Jagan had given him green signal for his re-entry.
Apparently to pre-empt Sai Reddy’s return to the YSRCP, the Naidu government seems to have once again started targeting him.
As part of that the SIT summoned Sai Reddy to appear before the investigating authorities on Saturday for questioning him again in the liquor case.
This is the third time Vijay Sai Reddy is being summoned by the SIT. Following the notice, he made an interesting post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), quoting a verse from the Bhagavad Gita, which has sparked attention.
The verse literally means:
“You have the right to perform your prescribed duties,
but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions.
Never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities,
and never be attached to not doing your duty."
As SIT prepares to question him again, Sai Reddy sent a message to the SIT authorities that he might not be able to appear for questioning as he has other programmes scheduled.
However, the SIT notices led to apprehension within the YSR Congress Party ranks over whose names may come up during this round of inquiry.
So far, Raj Kesireddy, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, and nine others have been arrested in connection with the liquor scam. None have been granted bail yet.
Following Chevireddy’s arrest, his son Mohit Reddy has gone into hiding. Additionally, SIT officials have arrested two of Chevireddy’s associates in Madhya Pradesh.
