JSP leader arrested in murder case, sacked from party

A senior Jana Sena Party leader Vinutha Kota, who is heading the party in Srikalahasti assembly constituency, was on Saturday arrested by Chennai police in connection with the murder of her personal assistant Srinivasulu alias Rayudu, whose body was found in a sewerage canal in Chennai.

Within hours, Jana Sena party issued a statement suspending Vinutha from the party, asking her to keep away from all party activities.

Vinutha, however, is learnt to have said she had no role in the death of Rayudu, but admitted that her men had beaten him up for leaking her family issues.

Srinivasulu, who worked as a PA and driver for Vinutha, had gone missing recently. His dead body was later found in a drainage canal in Chennai.

Police launched a detailed investigation and traced the victim back to Vinutha, as his hand had the Jana Sena symbol along with her name. This led to suspicions that he worked closely with her.

Chennai Police arrested five individuals, including Vinutha and her husband Chandrababu. The police are conducting a comprehensive investigation and have brought the accused back to Srikalahasti for further inquiry.

It is learnt Vinutha terminated his services two weeks ago. Vinutha claimed on social media that she had no connection with Rayudu.

The exact reasons for Rayudu’s death are expected to be disclosed once the cops interrogate Vinutha and her husband.
