Will KCR, Jagan Have A Talk In Delhi?

After a long gap, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will get an opportunity to face each other in New Delhi on Sunday.

Both the chief ministers would be in Delhi to attend the meeting of the chief ministers of extremist-infested states to be convened by Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday. It will provide an excellent opportunity for KCR and Jagan to meet and greet each other.

Though there is a talk in the political circles that KCR and Jagan are regularly in touch with each other over phone, both the leaders have been adopting a confrontationist stand against each other for over a year, particularly on Krishna river water sharing, at least for public consumption.

The chief ministers did not even attend the apex council meeting convened by Union Jal Sakthi ministry a few months ago and were represented by the senior officials of their respective states.

The meetings of Krishna and Godavari river management boards were also attended by the irrigation department officials.

Both the chief ministers shot off letters to the Centre complaining against each other and even made statements criticising each other.

On Thursday, too, Andhra Pradesh government wrote a letter to the Union ministry asking it to stop Telangana from utilising Krishna river water for hydel power generation, while Telangana government complained to the centre against excess drawl of water from Srisailam reservoir through Pothireddypadu head regulator.

KCR is leaving for New Delhi on Friday evening itself and would have a meeting with Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Saturday to request him to drop the proposal to bring all the irrigation projects under the Central purview from October 14.

On the other hand, Jagan would be leaving for New Delhi on Saturday evening to participate in Amit Shah meeting on Sunday.

He is also trying for an appointment with Shah separately to discuss certain issues. If it is confirmed, he would return to Vijayawada on Monday.

It would be interesting to watch whether KCR and Jagan would get a chance to talk to each other at least in New Delhi.
