Will Jagan announce hit-list today?

A tense atmosphere is said to be prevailing in the ruling YSR Congress party president in Andhra Pradesh as part president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy called for a meeting of the party MLAs and regional coordinators at Tadepalli on Monday.

Reason: Jagan is said to be equipped with the list of non-performers among the party MLAs and he is likely to announce the hit list of those who might not be getting the party tickets in the assembly elections scheduled early next year.

According to party sources, the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) has submitted a list of non-performing MLAs of the party who are unlikely to win the next elections, if given tickets again.

At the same time, Jagan has also obtained a report from his own party intelligence network, besides the state intelligence about the ground realities in various constituencies and the prospects of the party in these constituencies in the next elections.

“After consolidating various reports and comparing them with one another, the party president will take a call on who he can retain and who he can show the door for the next elections,” sources said.

Jagan has already made it clear that he would give tickets only to the winning horses. He has been periodically warning the party MLAs and even a few ministers about their non-performance.

He also gave a hint to that effect by appointing new in-charges and coordinators for the assembly constituencies.

“While the participation in Gadapa Gadapaku Prabhutvam is one criterion to assess the performance of the MLAs, Jagan is also taking into consideration the people’s response to such MLAs,” sources said.

The chief minister will also announce a training programme for “Gruha Sarathulu” (door-to-door campaigners) and coordinators from Tuesday till February 18. Soon after the training programme, he will kickstart “Jagan is our future” programme all over the state, the party source added.
