Tamil actor-turned-politician Vijay has finally addressed the controversies surrounding his personal life and political journey, including rumours about his divorce and his alleged relationship with Trisha Krishnan, during a public rally in Tirunelveli.
Vijay, who is currently leading an aggressive campaign ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections as the chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), delivered a fiery speech on Wednesday, April 8, targeting both his critics and political rivals.
During the rally, Vijay made it clear that he believes the recent controversies around him are politically motivated and part of a larger attempt to weaken him ahead of the elections.
In one of the now-viral clips from the speech, Vijay said his opponents only know one thing — to blame him for everything.
He remarked that even in unrelated controversies, people are trying to drag his name into the issue, but despite all that, people are still standing by him.
Vijay also referred to the troubles surrounding his upcoming film Jana Nayagan, claiming that attempts were made to stop the film’s release and even create special restrictions just to target him.
He suggested that when such efforts failed, attention shifted to his personal life.
In what is being seen as his indirect response to the ongoing speculation about his marriage and Trisha, Vijay said: “When that also didn’t work, they waited till 30 days before the election to spread rumours about those close to me. You know what I’m talking about. That didn’t work too. No matter how many trials and pains you put me through, you can’t separate me from the people.”
Though he did not mention any names directly, the remark is widely being interpreted as his response to the divorce rumours involving his wife Sangeeta Sornalingam, as well as the speculation linking him with Trisha Krishnan.
Vijay’s statement has now gone viral, with fans calling it a strong and emotional moment in his political journey.
Apart from his personal remarks, Vijay also launched a strong attack on the ruling DMK government.
He described the current political alliance in Tamil Nadu as a “cash box alliance” and alleged that it was built on “looted money.”
Taking a swipe at Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Vijay also called the DMK regime a “caretaker government”, suggesting that it lacks real strength and legitimacy.
He ended his speech on an emotional note, saying that while elections may be just another political event for others, for TVK cadres, this election is “an emotion.”
With this speech, Vijay appears to have made it clear that he is no longer willing to stay silent when his cinema, politics, or personal life are dragged into controversy.
