Why Should Naidu Send Official Stats To JFC?

Why Should Naidu Send Official Stats To JFC?

The way Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Nadu has sent a 118-page report to the Joint Fact Finding Committee (JFC), constituted by actor and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan with “intellectuals,” political party leaders and other individuals, has raised many an eyebrow.

Naidu deputed a representative of the state government to Pawan Kalyan to hand over the report as part of sharing information with regard to the centre's assistance to Andhra and fulfillment of the promises made under AP Reorganization Act.

The status of development programmes taken up by AP government with central assistance was also included in the report.

This is really surprising to many, as JFC constituted by Pawan Kalyan is no statutory body nor an official body. It is just a group of individuals who are trying to find out what kind of injustice was meted out to AP in the union budget.

Secondly, Pawan Kalyan has no locus standi to seek the statistics from the Centre. If he wants, he has to apply for the same under RTI. And thirdly, the government has no obligation to provide the statistics to Pawan Kalyan.

“Is it possible for a common man to ask for such an information from the government and the latter will provide the same? For that matter, does Naidu provide the same information to YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy if the latter demands?” a journalist asked.

Apparently, Naidu wants to keep Pawan in good books and hence, he instantly obliged to the latter’s request. Naturally, he wants to fire at the BJP from the shoulders of Pawan Kalyan.

Obviously, Pawan will be thankful to Naidu for the kind of transparency the latter has shown!
