Popular Telugu journalist Swetcha Votarkar was found dead at her residence in Chikkadpally, Hyderabad, on Friday.
Preliminary investigations by the police suggest the 35-year-old may have died by suicide.
Swetcha was living with her mother and young daughter.
The incident came to light when her daughter returned from school in the evening and found the bedroom door locked. After receiving no response to repeated knocks, she alerted the neighbors.
The neighbors broke open the door and found Swetcha unconscious inside.
Emergency services were immediately called, but paramedics declared her dead at the scene. Her body has been shifted to Gandhi Hospital for a postmortem examination.
A case has been registered, and police have begun a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death.
