Why privilege motion against Diggy?

Telugu Desam Party’s decision to move a privilege motion against AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh has drawn flak from several Telangana leaders.

The Seemandhra TDP members issued a notice to assembly speaker seeking to move privilege motion against Digvijay for saying that there would be no voting on the draft Telangana bill but there would only be an opinion collection.

The Seemandhra TDP leaders assert that Digvijay had clearly trespassed into the privileges of the assembly members.

However, the Telangana Congress leaders took strong exception to the move. Former minister T Jeevan Reddy on Saturday condemned the TDP for moving a privilege motion against Digvijay.

“Every individual has a constitutional right to express his views. Similarly, Digvijay Singh expressed his views on Telangana Bill during his visit to Hyderabad. The TDP leaders are targeting Digvijay only to stall the Telangana Bill in the Assembly,” he alleged.

Jeevan Reddy said that Digvijay Singh came to Hyderabad to end the stalemate between the leaders of Telangana and Seemandhra regions.

However, his visit angered the TDP which was hoping to gain from those differences.

He said that TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu has no moral right to speak about difference within the Congress party and he should first focus on his own party.
