When Shamshabad can become Ranga Reddy district, Gadwal can become Jogulamba district, Bhupalpally can become Jayashankar district and Asifabad can become Komuram Bheem district, why cannot KCR change Hyderabad into Bhagyanagar district?
This was the question raised by Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party leader G Kishan Reddy.
He reminded that several metro cities had been rechristened to their original names – Benaras as Varanasi, Bangalore as Bengaluru, Madras as Chennai and Bombay as Mumbai.
“So, what is wrong if Hyderabad was rechristened as Bhagyanagar when the names of other metro cities were changed?” he asked.
The BJP leader accused KCR of of becoming a puppet in the hands of Majlis and bowing to the demands of MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
He alleged that KCR had dropped the idea of naming Vikarabad district as Anantagiri after MIM represented the government to retain the name of Vikarabad to the new district.
The BJP took pot shots at KCR for stating that the MIM was a friendly party of the TRS.
“It is an insult to the people of Telangana that the CM made such remarks praising a party that was opposed to Telangana formation,” Kishan Reddy remarked.
