The three-day tour of actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan in Anantapur district will come to an end on Monday.
In the last three days, he has spoken several things, including drought in Anantapur, irrigation projects, health and other social issues.
But the most important issue that the Jana Sena Party chief used to harp in the past – special category status to Andhra Pradesh – is conspicuously missing in his speeches.
Forget about questioning the state and central governments on why they had conveniently buried the demand for special category status, Pawan did not even utter a word about it.
May be, Pawan Kalyan, too, has come to the conclusion that Special Category Status is a closed chapter.
But the issue is still alive and it was evident from the response people are giving during the padayatra of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who is raising the demand for SCS.
Instead of questioning the state government for its inability to raise the demand, Pawan has chosen to visit the houses of the Telugu Desam Party leaders like Paritala Sunitha, Chand Basha and Y Prabhakar Chowdary on the pretext of understanding the problems of Anantapur people.
“How can he expect the ruling party leaders explain him about people’s problems? He should go into the people or make independent studies of their problems,” a Congress leader observed.
