The unusual praises heaped by Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the assembly has raised many eyebrows.
It was only a day before that Owaisi alleged that the TRS had an understanding with the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership and in turn, the BJP had joined hands with the Congress in Telangana.
But things changed within 24 hours. Though an ally of the TRS in the GHMC elections, Owaisi never praised KCR in the past so much.
But on Wednesday, he said no Chief Minister of the erstwhile combined state had generously implemented welfare schemes for the minorities like the way KCR was doing now.
He even predicted that the TRS would sweep the 2019 general election and said the MIM would fight the elections together with the TRS. He praised that KCR had been treating Hindus, Muslims and Christians equally.
Now, one wonders what made Owaisi change his tune so quickly. According to sources, it was KCR who sought to arm-twist the MIM leaders by ordering a crackdown on the illegal Wakf encroachments and seizure of all the records from the Wakf Board office.
It is a known fact that the Wakf Board mainly comprises MIM leaders, who had been facing allegations of encroaching Wakf properties in a big way.
According to sources, KCR’s move was primarily aimed at blackmailing the MIM leaders who were involved in large scale encroachment of Wakf properties.
“More than 80% of encroachers of Wakf land are directly or indirectly associated with the MIM leaders.
Therefore, by ordering seizure of Wakf Board offices and its records, the Chief Minister had sent a warning to MIM leaders that they were not beyond his reach and he could nail them anytime he wants,” the sources said, adding that Owaisi’s praises on KCR clearly showed that KCR has achieved his purpose.
