Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s emotional appeal to the people of the state to take the initiative in raising funds for the construction of the capital either by lending money or donating whatever they could has come under sharp criticism from the opposition parties.
The YSR Congress party described Naidu’s appeal to the people to lend money as a big drama.
“It looks like both Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh has unveiled the curtain for yet another conspiracy to loot the hard earned money of the people, especially farmers, in the name of capital funds,” YSRC official spokesman Jogi Ramesh said.
He alleged that Naidu and Lokesh, who had indulged in massive corruption in every area, including sand mining, digging of soil, NREGP works, toilet constructions and irrigation projects, were now conspiring to rob even the small amounts saved by farmers and common people in the name of capital funds.
“There is no need for floating any bonds. It is enough if Naidu and his party leaders donate all their ill-gotten money worth thousands of crores to construct a world-class capital city. Otherwise, Naidu and Lokesh could donate all their earnings in Heritage Foods, whose turnover had grown from Rs 50 crore to Rs 2,500 crore in the last four years,” he added.
