Where Are Accounts For Gulabi Coolie?

Firebrand MLA from Kodangal A Revanth Reddy, who has been maintaining strategic silence ever since he quit the Telangana Telugu Desam Party to join the Congress, is now taking one weapon after the other to attack the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

On Tuesday, Revanth filed a petition in the High Court seeking a direction to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana State to act on his complaint against the ministers for illegally collecting huge amounts in the name of Gulabi Coolie for holding plenary of the TRS party in Warangal in April last.

He sought to know whether the TRS had maintained any accounts for the monies collected in the name of Gulabi Coolie, as there were no receipts or payment of taxes.

He told the court that the ministers had resorted to this illegal collection of unaccounted money which would fall under the purview of various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

“Although I complained about these illegal collections on August 31, no action has been taken by the ACB so far,” he stated in his petition.

He pointed out that a Deputy Chief Minister took classes in three schools and collected Rs 5 lakh as fee while another Deputy Chief Minister worked in a Honda showroom in Hyderabad for 10 minutes and pocketed Rs 9.60 lakh.

The Finance Minister weighed some bags in a rice mill and got paid Rs 11 lakh for his labour. Another Minister worked in a petrol bunk and was paid Rs 1.76 lakh.

“Where are accounts for these collections? If there are, did they pay any taxes?” he asked.
