What will BJP gain with leaders like Babu?

The Bharatiya Janata Party, which is dreaming of growing independently in Andhra Pradesh by severing its ties with Telugu Desam Party in the next elections, appears to be facing bankruptcy of leadership.

It was evident from the way, the BJP admitted former Congress MLA from Chittoor C K Babu on Tuesday.

The former MLA, who had hitherto been claiming to be a strong leader of YSR Congress party, was recently disowned by the party because of his criminal background.

He has several cases, including a couple of alleged murder cases, pending against him and the people of Chittoor town are aware of his criminal behaviour.

So, it was surprising that former Union minister Daggubati Purandeshwari had played a key role in bringing him into the party.

Babu joined the BJP in the presence of State party president K Hari Babu in Vijayawada, along with his followers.

Surprisingly, Babu said he was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programmes and initiatives for the welfare of poor.

“I believe that India will become a New India under his leadership,” he said.

One wonders what the BJP would gain from such leaders who had no faith in the party philosophy till now. Do such leaders would fetch any fortunes for the party?

If the party thinks it can grow in strength with such leaders in south, it will have to only face disaster.
