We Won't Beg For Seats In AP, Says BJP

Enthused by the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, the party leaders in Andhra Pradesh have already started looking down upon their ally Telugu Desam Party.

“Our party has conquered the entire north and the focus is now on the South. In the next elections in 2019, the BJP will prove its strength in Andhra Pradesh as well.

We are going to be a deciding factor in forming the next government in Andhra Pradesh,” BJP MLC and senior leader Somu Veerraju asserted.

Known for his aggressive attack on Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Veerraju said the BJP would continue its alliance with the TDP for now, but in 2019, it would be capable of going it alone in the elections.

"In the event of forging alliance, we will not beg for the seats but would demand our due share from the alliance partner," he said.

“We will strengthen our cadre base. But, in the 2019 elections, we will decide which party will rule in Andhra,” Veerraju said.

In Telangana, too, the BJP leaders expressed similar confidence. BJP Telangana president Dr K Lakshman expressed the confidence that BJP would win the Telangana elections too in 2019.

“We have been strengthening in Telangana. We have strong cadre base at the grassroots level”, he said.
