Was Naidu's Anger Against Dwivedi Still Alive?

Was Naidu's Anger Against Dwivedi Still Alive?

State Election Commissioner in Andhra Pradesh Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar had acted tough against two senior IAS officers.

He had ordered for transfer of the two officers, even before the case was settled in the Supreme Court.

The State government made an attempt to implement the SEC orders hours after the SC order, on Monday.

But the SEC had deferred the proposal and asked the government to wait for his further orders, which he issued on Tuesday.

The SEC came out proceedings censuring both the senior officers and the target was more on Dwivedi, Principal Secretary of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development.

The action against Dwivedi reminds one what had happened in April-May 2019, after the general elections.

Dwivedi, who was then the Chief Electoral Officer, had prevented Chandrababu Naidu, from holding review meetings.

He had even prevented a cabinet meeting proposed by Naidu, claiming that he is the chief minister till June 8, 2020, though elections were over.

As Dwivedi did not allow Naidu to ahead with his plans and clipped his activities as care-taker chief minister, Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to the Election Commission of India against Dwivedi and had even held a sit-in protest at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office.

It is alleged by the ruling YSR Congress leaders that Naidu and his supporters have been targeting Dwivedi since then and the time had come for them now to take vengeance.

As if to cover up the charge of vengeance, it is alleged that the SEC had also axed another senior IAS officer, Girija Shankar, commissioner of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development.
