Glamorous heroine of yesteryears and former MP Vijayashanti, who has been appointed as Telangana Congress party’s star campaigner in the ongoing assembly elections, has suddenly become angry with the Pradesh Congress Committee leadership.
Reason: Her picture is missing in the advertisement given by the PCC in all the newspapers in Telangana on Tuesday welcoming former Congress president and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi for the public meeting in Medchal on November 25.
“We have been criticising the Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for not including even a single woman minister in his state cabinet and not giving enough number of party tickets to women in the present assembly elections. But what has the Congress party done? Has it not found even a single woman to be published in the advertisement welcoming Sonia Gandhi?” Vijayashanti asked in a statement.
She said people were surprised to see that there was not a single woman face in the advertisement.
“Why? Will the meeting of Sonia be attended only by men? Is it not open for women?” she asked.
There is definitely a point in her argument. The advertisement does not carry the picture of even the Telangana Mahila Congress president Nerella Sharada, forget star campaigner Vijayashanti.
One doubts whether Vijayashanti will get any opportunity to be on the dais, if not to address the rally.
