YSRCP's Dilemma: What to Do with Duvvada?

YSRCP's Dilemma: What to Do with Duvvada?

Duvvada Srinivas is currently serving as an MLC from Srikakulam district. Though YSRCP has suspended him from the party, it has not filed a complaint with the Legislative Council Chairman to remove him from the MLC post.

The reason is simple - even if he is removed, the seat would go to the ruling alliance that has the majority in the Assembly, which would not benefit YSRCP.

Because of this political reality, the party has avoided taking that step. As a result, Duvvada continues as an MLC.

At the same time, Duvvada is behaving as if his ties with YSRCP are still intact. He continues to make public statements in a way that suggests his relationship with the party has not completely ended. Party circles say his remarks are creating fresh problems for YSRCP.

From the beginning, Duvvada has been targeting the Dharmana brothers. This trend has continued from his days in the Congress.

Even after joining YSRCP, he often targeted both the Kinjirapu family on one side and the Dharmana family on the other.

As long as he enjoyed closeness with Jagan, his political journey went smoothly. However, due to controversies in his personal life, the YSRCP high command eventually suspended him.

Duvvada has repeatedly alleged that the Dharmana family, which he says has always been hostile towards him, is responsible for his suspension.

Recently, he once again launched fresh attacks on former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, making serious allegations of land grabbing. He also claimed that Prasada Rao played a key role in pushing him out of the party.

Duvvada’s open criticism is proving damaging for YSRCP. He has not joined any other party and continues to project himself as a YSRCP sympathiser.

His MLC position was also given by YSRCP, and critics point out that as long as he holds that post, it suggests the party has not completely cut ties with him. At the same time, Duvvada’s attacks on leaders he calls his rivals are directly embarrassing YSRCP.

Political observers say that if the party truly wants to make it clear that Duvvada is no longer associated with it, it will have to formally approach the Legislative Council Chairman and seek action against his MLC position.
