The Telangana Rashtra Samithi leadership seems to be laying trap for seniors in the Congress party who have the potential to become a threat to it in the next elections.
One of these potential Congress leaders is D K Aruna, former minister and senior Congress MLA from Gadwal in Mahbubnagar district.
She led a massive agitation in her constituency demanding that Gadwal be made a district, if Mahbubnagar had to be divided as part of reorganisation of districts. And she got a tremendous response from the people.
Intelligence reports indicated to chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao that if her demand is not conceded, Aruna might expand her influence to across the state and emerge as a potential chief ministerial candidate in future.
So, KCR cleverly changed his strategy and conceded the demand for making Gadwal as district. And the local TRS leaders are taking advantage of it politically.
Having no other option, Aruna thanked KCR profusely for conceding her demand. Sources said backroom negotiations are going on to attract Aruna into the TRS, promising her a cabinet berth.
KCR used similar tactics with CLP leader K Jana Reddy who is yet another CM candidate in the Congress. Jana Reddy now completely mellowed down and virtually surrendered to the TRS.
