In a sudden and surprising move, domestic airliner IndiGo on Wednesday revoked its ban imposed on maverick Telugu Desam Party MP J C Diwakar Reddy from flying on its flights. The ban has been lifted with immediate effect.
Both JC and the management of the IndiGo Airlines came to an understanding in New Delhi. And the man who brokered the pact between the two was Union minister of state for science and technology Y S Chowdary, also known as Sujana Chowdary.
Apparently under the instructions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and finance minister Arun Jaitely, Sujana held a luncheon meeting with JC and senior officials of IndiGo to resolve the dispute.
It is not known what exactly had happened at the luncheon meeting, but within a couple of hours, the IndiGo Airlines spokesman issued a statement stating that the issue was amicably resolved between the two and IndiGo has decided to lift the said ban with immediate effect.
Accordingly, JC has also agreed to withdraw the case he has filed against eight airlines which has banned Reddy from flying in domestic flights.
IndiGo management also said it had informed the Federation of Indian Airlines about the decision to lift ban on the TDP MP.
“IndiGo appreciates and thanks the member airlines for their continued support,” the spokesman said.
