Why Dhurandhar 2 Failed Record Expectations

Why Dhurandhar 2 Failed Record Expectations

Dhurandhar 2 was widely expected to create an unprecedented record even before its release.

Many trade analysts and fans believed it would easily cross Rs 2000 crore worldwide and surpass the long standing record of Dangal as the highest grossing Indian film globally. However, that prediction now appears unlikely.

The film is still performing well at the box office and continues to add more than Rs 10 crore gross daily.

So far, it has crossed around Rs 1600 crore worldwide, which is a remarkable achievement by any standard.

Yet the momentum required to reach the Rs 2000 crore mark, which was expected to reach by now, was not materialized.

One major reason is the film’s limited success in regional language markets.

While it performed strongly in its primary language, it did not generate the same level of excitement in dubbed versions across other regions.

In particular, the Telugu release faced a setback. Premiere shows were cancelled and even first day screenings were not scheduled.

The film began screening in Telugu only from the third day, which significantly affected its opening momentum in that market.

Another factor was the narrative around the film on social media.

Some detractors projected it as a propaganda driven film, which influenced certain sections of the audience and created mixed perceptions online.

These factors together slowed the film’s record breaking potential.
