It appears YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is making last ditch attempts to convince his sister Y S Sharmila to drop her plans to launch a new political party in Telangana.
On Thursday, he is said to have sent his party MLA from Mangalagiri assembly constituency Alla Ramakrishna Reddy to Hyderabad to hold discussions with Sharmila and prevail upon her to reconsider her decision.
Ramakrishna Reddy came to Lotus Pond in the afternoon and met Sharmila. Both of them had an hour-long meeting.
It is not exactly known what he asked her and what she replied. He also met Sharmila’s husband Anil Kumar and held prolonged discussions.
Though it is said Ramakrishna Reddy had met the couple only on a courtesy call in the wake of Anil Kumar’s birthday on Wednesday, they would have definitely discussed the issue of Sharmila’s political plans in Telangana, sources said.
“Ramakrishna Reddy must have come to Hyderabad to meet Sharmila on the instructions of Jagan Reddy. Without the boss permission, he would not have held talks with Sharmila. So, what message he has brought from Jagan is anybody’s guess,” sources said.
However, sources said Sharmila is keen on floating her new party, come what may, and has already chalked out her programme of action. So, she can’t go back at this stage.
