Raju gets Mekathoti's husband transferred?

In an interesting development, Income Tax Commissioner Mekathoti Dayasagar, who happens to be the husband of Andhra Pradesh state home minister Mekathoti Sucharita, was transferred to Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, within 10 days of being posted in Vijayawada.

Dayasagar, a 1992-batch Indian Revenue Service officer, had earlier worked in the Income Tax department in various capacities in various places including Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, Hyderabad etc.

But after his wife Sucharita became the home minister of Andhra Pradesh, he used all his and her influences in the government and got transferred to Vijayawada. He took charge as the Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Vijayawada on October 27.

Suspecting that Dayasagar was brought in to target the opposition party leaders in Andhra Pradesh, rebel YSR Congress party MP from Narasapuram constituency Kanumuru Raghurama Krishnam Raju wrote a letter to Union home minister Amit Shah and finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman against the state home minister’s husband.

Raju apparently complained to the Centre that transferring an Income Tax officer to the same place where his wife is the state home minister is against the service rules.

He also pointed out that on the day of Dayasagar taking charge as the Income Tax commissioner in Vijayawada, the YSRC leaders and cadre extended him a grand welcome.

The home minister’s office also issued a press statement welcoming her husband’s appointment as IT Commissioner of Vijayawada.

It is learnt another BJP MP also made a similar complaint to Shah. Acting on these complaints, the Centre acted swiftly and shifted him to Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. He left for Jabalpur on Sunday.
