Apparently realising that YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has to put extra efforts to take on Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the next elections, political strategist Prashant Kishor, who was hired by Jagan to work out election strategies, is learnt to have come up with an innovative idea.
According to sources, the party would launch a new initiative called “YSR Kutumbam” starting from September 2, coinciding with the eighth death anniversary of late chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.
Though the exact details of the programme are yet to be revealed, it is learnt it is sort of state-wide campaign to galvanise party cadres and make them attract as many people as possible into the YSRC fold.
“It is a programme to spread the message across the people that the welfare schemes introduced by late YSR had benefitted lakhs of people in the state and bring all these beneficiaries into a common fold under the umbrella of YSR Kutumbam (family).
After all, YSR treated the poor people as his family members and extended benefits to them. Now, it is time for them to express their gratitude by blessing his son Jagan. That is the objective of YSR Kutumbam concept,” a source in the party said.
During the proposed padayatra of Jagan from October 27, this YSR Kutumbam concept would be strongly taken into the people and make them identify with Jagan and his family.
“It is a sort of going into the people with a positive message, instead of confining to attacking the TDP in general and Chandrababu Naidu in particular,” a source said.
