Telangana Jagruti president Kalvakuntla Kavitha has stepped up her activity to float a new political party and contest the next assembly elections in Telangana independently, with a focus on carving out a distinct political identity.
As part of this strategy, Kavitha has been holding a series of meetings with noted election strategist Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraj Party.
According to reliable information, Kishor visited Hyderabad twice within a span of about 60 days and held closed-door discussions with Kavitha.
During the Sankranti festival period, Kavitha and Kishor reportedly met in Hyderabad and engaged in extensive deliberations on party formation, public ownership of the political platform, and approaches to governance rooted in people-centric politics.
The discussions are said to have covered a wide range of strategic and organisational issues. Prashant Kishor is said to be helping Kavitha in drafting the party’s constitution and philosophy, which would be submitted to the election commission.
Kavitha has already initiated groundwork for policy formulation by setting up nearly 50 committees to study various sectors and public concerns.
Sources said the committees are focussing on protecting Telangana’s self-respecting political identity.
By launching a new political party, Kavitha aims to emerge as a strong alternative to established political formations in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections.
Her repeated engagements with Prashant Kishor are being seen as a crucial step in that direction.
Interestingly, during the 2023 Assembly elections, KCR had also held multiple meetings with Prashant Kishor in Hyderabad while seeking a third consecutive term for the BRS.
However, the electorate ultimately voted the Indian National Congress to power, leading to the formation of a government under chief minister A Revanth Reddy.
