A R Rahman remains one of the most respected music directors in Indian cinema.
The Oscar-winning composer once dominated the industry, and though his pace slowed in recent years, he now appears to be making a strong comeback, generating fresh buzz.
For the film Peddi, Rahman reportedly accepted a remuneration of ₹6 crore, which is lower than his earlier fee.
This move was seen as a sign of his adaptability to changing industry dynamics, surprising many observers.
Following the success of the song Chikiri, which became a national sensation, the same production house reportedly approached him again for a mid-range film with a budget of around ₹30 crore.
They expected him to work for a similar or lower fee. However, Rahman is said to have quoted ₹10 crore, leading the makers to drop the plan.
Later, Ram Charan reportedly recommended Rahman for a project starring Chiranjeevi and directed by Bobby Kolli.
When approached, Rahman is believed to have quoted ₹12 crore. After evaluating the costs, the team eventually opted for S. Thaman instead.
Rahman’s fluctuating remuneration and the renewed demand around him have now become a talking point in the industry once again.
