Pothana Wrote Ramayana, According To Naidu!

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu might have mastered the art of articulation when it comes to politics, but he definitely does not seem to have any knowledge about literature, history and mythology.

It was clearly evident at his brief address of devotees at the Sita Rama Swamy Brahmotsavams at Ontimitta in Kadapa district on Friday night.

While complimenting the pilgrims for their undeterred devotion and staying back in the temple unperturbed by the inclement weather conditions, Naidu said after Bhadrachalam going to Telangana post bifurcation of combined state, the state government had been trying to develop Ontimitta temple in a big way to attract pilgrims.

“This is the place where Bammera Pothana wrote Ramayana and highlighted the glory of the temple,” Naidu said.

This has surprised many. First of all, historical evidences show that Pothana belonged to Bammera village near Palakurthi in Warangal district in Telangana and not Ontimitta.

Even if one were assume that Pothana really belonged to Kadapa district, what he had written was Maha Bhagawatham and not Ramayanam, though he was a staunch devotee of Lord Rama.

Naturally, Naidu’s speech has gone viral in the social media within no time and people have started laughing at his ignorance of history.

And the chief minister did not stop at that but started boasting about his rule.

“Lord Sri Rama Kalyanam with Goddess Sita Devi is often observed for the prosperity of entire humanity. Today it was proved clearly. Lord Sri Rama provided a hassle free ruling and even today we describe it as "Rama Rajya". I pray lord to give me strength to provide best possible administration", he added.
