Aditya Dhar has been a major newsmaker in Indian filmdom with the two parts of Dhurandhar released in 2025 and 2026. The big question now is, what will be his next project?
Mumbai media reports reveal that Aditya Dhar has a pet project based on Ashwatthama, the mythological character from the Mahabharata.
The other is a historical film on Chandragupta Maurya, which will also prominently feature the story of Chanakya.
Gossip mills suggest that Dhar may begin with Ashwatthama, as the script for that film is said to be completely ready.
However, there is also a strong possibility that he could move forward with Chandragupta Maurya, with Ranveer Singh reportedly being considered for the title role.
What intrigues many is the role of Chanakya in the film, if at all it comes on to the sets, which is expected to be extremely crucial.
Some industry insiders speculate that the role could go to Kamal Haasan, based on what they are hearing from sources, while others do not rule out Akshaye Khanna playing the iconic strategist.
It is known that Akshaye Khanna gained significant popularity with Dhurandhar, where he played the role of Rehman Dakait.
It would be interesting to see if he portrays Chanakya, the mentor of Chandragupta Maurya. However, there is a catch; Akshaye Khanna is reportedly not keen on acting without a wig.
He is said to have declined even a role in Drishyam 3 because it required him to appear bald.
Therefore, the possibility of him playing Chanakya may be slim unless Aditya Dhar convinces him to appear with a tonsured head.
For now, all these speculations and opinions are doing the rounds in Mumbai film circles, though there has been no official confirmation of any of these projects so far.
