Now, TGV Bats For Kurnool As Capital!

Rayalaseema Hakkula Parirakshana Vedika leader and Minister for Minor Irrigation T G Venkatesh, who fought for the United Andhra Pradesh till the last minute, has now revived his struggle, this time for making Kurnool as the capital of residual Andhra Pradesh.

On Saturday, Venkatesh organized a massive rally in Kurnool for making the town as the new capital of residual Andhra Pradesh or carving out separate Rayalaseema State.

He said the Rayalaseema region had sacrificed the State capital in 1956 to keep the Telugu people united.

He reminded that Kurnool served as capital of Seemandhra State before 1956. The people of Rayalaseema were now not ready for any sacrifice in the light of bifurcation of the State, he added.

The Minister pointed out that the Centre has claimed that the Telangana State, which existed before 1953, was now formed as Telangana State. Then, why Kurnool, which was capital of the State in 1956, was not made capital of residual Andhra Pradesh State, he questioned.

He also warned that the people of Rayalaseema would launch an agitation if Kurnool was not made capital of residual Andhra Pradesh.
