No Plan To Sell TV9 To My Home!

Despite clarifications by its Chief Executive Officer Ravi Prakash, the rumours on sale of popular television channel TV9 continue to remain unabated.

According to latest reports, well-known media group Zee Television Network Limited has struck a deal with the TV9 management for the outright purchase of the channel.

The nitty-gritty of the deal is being worked out at present and the deal is said to be to the tune of Rs 850 crore, the reports said.

The Associated Broadcasting Private Limited (ABPL), which owns TV9 is presently running seven channels across the country and Zee Group is set to buy all of them, say the sources.

In the past, there was a talk that My Home Group owned by J Rameshwara Rao, a close aide of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, had clinched the deal to buy TV9.

The reports also said channel Ravi Prakash himself is learnt to have brokered the deal between channel promoter Srini Raju and Rameshwar Rao. However, Ravi Prakash vehemently denied the rumours later.

But, he did not specifically deny the reports that there were attempts to sell the channel in the past to big players like Times of India group and Sony Network. However, none of these details materialised due to high valuation of the TV9 channels.
