Naidu Has No Respect For Telugu?

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has absolutely no respect for Telugu language, at a time when his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao is taking all the steps to promote the Telugu language.

This was the allegation made by former MP and Padma Bhushan awardee Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad.

He alleged that the Chief Minister had made promises in regard to protection of mother tongue, but failed to keep his word.

Expressing solidarity with the ‘Satyagraha’ taken up by Telugu Dandu, a platform for poets, writers, teachers, Telugu language lovers and students in Visakhapatnam, Lakshmi Prasad said the Chief Minister, his Ministers and MLAs have been turning a blind eye to this protest.

“Naidu is known for taking stock of everything happening across the State. I wonder how he could not take note of the protest happening here for the last 20 days,” he lamented and demanded that the TDP government should implement the promises made in its manifesto for protection and development of Telugu language.

“The State government has not taken any step to see that invitations, name boards, plaques and advertisements contained Telugu language,” he pointed out.

“On one side, the government claims Telugu would be made mandatory for the students’ right from Class-I to Intermediate. But it failed to implement the tall assurances made during Gidugu Ram Murthy Pantulu Jayanthi on August 29, for two consecutive years 2016 and 2017,” he pointed out.
