Mohan Babu Faults Pawan On TTD Appointment

The Chandrababu Naidu government in Andhra Pradesh, which has been under attack from various quarters, including power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan, for appointing a north Indian officer Anil Kumar Singhal as the executive officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, got support from unexpected quarters.

Senior actor-producer Manchu Mohan Babu came in support of Naidu for appointing Singhal as TTD executive officer.

“He is a sincere officer with a lot of integrity. He is an Andhra cadre officer, working as collector in various Telugu districts. I know him very well. I extend all my support to him as the EO of the TTD,” he said.

Mohan Babu found fault with Pawan for raking up north-south controversy in Singhal’s appointment.

“I strongly condemn such comments. It is not proper to restrict Lord Venkateshwara Swamy to a particular region or language. What is wrong in a non-Telugu speaking officer being appointed as TTD EO? Don’t look at his language, look at his administration,” Mohan Babu said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, too, opposed Pawan Kalyan’s comments.

“It is better people read the TTD Act before making such comments. As per the Act, it is enough if the executive officer is a Hindu IAS officer and has faith in Lord Venkateshwara. It doesn’t discriminate between the regions or languages.

Why then is so much fuss? After all, the government has not appointed somebody from Pakistan as TTD officer,” senior BJP leader Bhanu Prakash said.
