The sudden visit of Janata Dal (S) leader and Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy to Vijayawada on Friday triggered different speculations in the media circles.
While a section of the media said Kumaraswamy had a vow to fulfil to Goddess Kanaka Durga at Vijayawada and hence had the darshan along with his wife, another section of media reported that he had come to meet Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu to discuss the federal front proposal.
However, later in the night, the actual reason of Kumaraswamy’s visit came to light. He came to visit the house of Bodepudi Siva Koteshwara Rao, owner of Profit Shoe Company in Vijayawada for discussing a marriage alliance of his son Nikhil Gowda with Rao’s daughter Sahaja.
Apparently, Nikhil had fallen flat for Sahaja on seeing her profile in the internet. She holds a Masters’ degree in logistics from University of Warwick, UK and is presently heading the operations of the Profit Shoe Company.
Both Nikhil and Sahaja had a telephonic talk, though they did not see each other, and agreed for the alliance.
It was at the instance of Nikhil that Kumaraswamy couple came all the way from Bengaluru to Vijayawada. A
contractor Rajasekhar, who is a common friend of Rao and Kumaraswamy, facilitated the alliance talks and former Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal took it forward.
After coming to Vijayawada, Kumaraswamy raised the topic with Chandrababu Naidu as well, as Rao hails from the Kamma community. Naidu immediately asked his party leader Raghurama Krishnam Raju, who recently joined the TDP from BJP, to extend all the support.
Kumaraswamy and his wife had lunch at the residence of Rao, apart from seeing the girl. Though they liked the girl, they were not happy with the economic and social background of Rao.
Apparently, they did not like the house of Rao, which was too small compared to their residence in Karnataka. They realised that the girl’s family does not suit the stature of Gowdas.
So, after they returned to Bengaluru, the Kumaraswamy couple reportedly conveyed to Rao family that they were not interested in the alliance.
Sahaja and her parents are now said to be terribly upset, as it was already spread in the circles of family and friends that she is going to the daughter-in-law of Karnataka chief minister.
