Recently, Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao of the TDP was gunned down by the Maoists sending shockwaves across Andhra Pradesh. Apparently, the Maoists also justified their action in conversations with passersby after the killing.
While illegal mining indulged in by the late MLA was said to be the primary reason for the displeasure of the Maoists, they also claimed that Kidari Sarveswara Rao had taken Rs 30 crore for defecting to the TDP from YSRCP and was leading an intemperate lifestyle with the money.
Had it been the YSRCP politicians who claimed that Kidari had defected because of money, it would not have been taken seriously. But the Maoists mentioning this fact has created a sensation with the media giving this issue active coverage.
Poor Kidari! He never made the headlines when he was alive but in death, he is providing good TRP’s to the media. May his soul rest in peace!
