The people of Andhra Pradesh had virtually thrown the Congress party into Bay of Bengal in the 2014 elections, for dividing the erstwhile united AP. The party did not win even a single Assembly seat for its decision.
Yet, the Congress leaders in the State are optimistic that their party can still come back to power in the next elections in 2019.
AP Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy during his tour in flood affected areas of Nellore district reportedly told his party colleagues that the people had expressed view that the earlier Congress regime had handled the flood situation more effectively than the present Chandrababu Naidu government and that the people are not happy with the TDP.
“This has given us a lot of confidence that the Congress has the chance to stage a comeback to power in the next elections,” he said.
However, reports said Raghuveera received a cold response from the people during his tour in the flood-hit areas, as the party leaders had defected to the TDP lock, stock and barrel.
The Congress party has more or less been wiped out of coastal Andhra, as many of its leaders had either joined the TDP or the YSR Congress party or the BJP before and after the elections.
So, where is the question of Congress coming to power in AP?
