It's Clear: TDP Won't Quit NDA!

It is now official. Telugu Desam Party, which has been trying to create an impression for the last two days that it would not hesitate to get out of the National Democratic Party if it did not grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh, has decided against taking such a move.

Though there was no concrete decision from the Narendra Modi government on the special category status, the TDP has decided to stick to coalition dharma and strive for achieving all the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act, besides special status.

“There is no question of compromise on the special status issue. But that itself is not enough. We are bringing pressure on securing a special financial package for the state and other issues that were not there in the Act,” Union minister Sujana Chowdary told media persons on Tuesday.

Stating that the special category status was the right of the Andhra people, Sujana said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was going through all the pending issues and he had also directed the finance ministry to work out the financial package and the Polavaram issue.

“We are trying to bring pressure on the Centre through democratic means and not through bandhs and rasta rokos,” he said.

Nobody expected that the TDP would come out the NDA and everybody knew the aggressive posture by the TDP in the last two days was only a big drama. So, people would decide who is right and who is wrong.
